Osceola County Clerk of Court Charged With Assault
According to
the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Malcolm Thompson – Osceola County Clerk of
Court – currently faces charges
of assault and battery involving one
of his staff members at the Osceola County courthouse. The contested issue is
whether or not the 62-year-old Clerk of Court playfully shoved his secretary, or lost
his temper and slammed her hard against a door frame, bruising her.
Thompson, who
is a former police officer, was
served a summons in his office.
Agents were not required to handcuff him. He will appear in court on February 28th on the misdemeanor
charges. A spokeswoman for Governor Rick
Scott stated that the governor’s office is “aware of the situation, and
right now is reviewing it.” Thompson was honored as America’s Top Cop in the 1990’s.
