“Jersey Shore” Star Pleads Not Guilty to Drug Charge

John Manfre – better known as The Unit on the popular MTV show Jersey Shore – recently pled not guilty to the charge that he was in possession of a controlled substance last July. According to authorities, Manfre was arrested in Seaside Heights after he was found with a white powdered substance. The powder was later identified as Ketamine, a powerful drug often used as a horse tranquilizer.

Also known as “Special K,” Ketamine is an aesthetic drug that is injected or inhaled when used illicitly, producing effects similar to PCP. Manfre’s lawyers claim that they entered the not guilty plea not because “that’s the normal thing to do,” but because they encountered issues concerning their client’s constitutional rights. His attorney stated that they expect “a very favorable outcome.”

Anyone can make an error in judgment, but the consequences for a drug offense can be steep. If you have been arrested for possession of drugs, you may be facing:

  • Probation
  • Fines
  • Driver’s license suspension
  • Jail time
If you are a first-time offender, Florida provides rehabilitation programs as an alternative to certain drug offense penalties. In some of our clients’ cases, we have even been able to have drug charges completely dropped and later expunged.

If you have been arrested for a drug crime in the Orlando, Florida area, please contact us today to schedule a consultation with our experienced Orlando criminal defense attorneys at The Umansky Firm. We can protect your rights and help you get back on your feet again.
