Orlando Woman Charged With DUI; Bribes Officer to Let Her Go

A 21-year-old Orlando woman was driving home from a downtown club when she was pulled over for speeding. State troopers asked her to get out of her car six times, but she refused. When she reached for the ignition, the trooper opened her door himself to prevent her from fleeing the scene. She was unsteady on her feet and smelled like alcohol, but refused to take a field sobriety test. A 1.75-liter bottle of tequila was found in her car, almost empty.

Once the trooper handcuffed the woman, she offered him $3,000 to let her go. The officer refused the bribe, but she repeated it. She has now been charged with a felony for attempting to bribe a police officer, when she could have merely been charged with a DUI misdemeanor.

When people make mistakes, they often panic, making the situation much worse than it would have been otherwise. At The Umansky Law Firm, we understand how overwhelming a DUI or felony charge can be. We believe in giving people second chances so they can move on with their lives and make a better future for themselves.
