Detroit Lions Star Nick Fairley Arrested for DUI
Nick Fairley – an NFL defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions – was arrested on Sunday for DUI and attempting to elude the police.
According to authorities, Fairley was speeding
at 100MPH in his Cadillac Escalade
when he passed a patrolling police vehicle on the westbound Interstate 10.
Initially, Fairley seemed to ignore the police’s emergency sirens and lights, but
when he eventually stopped he showed signs
of impairment.
Fairley declined a breathalyzer test, even
though he had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and no proof of
insurance. He was issued traffic citations for reckless driving and was arrested on DUI charges. This arrest comes after an offseason drug offense
for possession of marijuana in April.
Fairley could face discipline and possible suspension for violating the NFL’s
clear substance abuse policy.
