Former NBA Player Faces DUI, Bribery Charges

Former NBA player Loren Woods was arrested for DUI yesterday in Tampa, Florida, according to ESPN. The 33-year-old former NBA pro was released on a $2,500 bail. Apparently he was charged with misdemeanor DUI and a felony for bribery of a public servant.

Woods was an NBA player for six years, a portion of which he played for the Miami Heat.

ESPN also reports Woods refused a blood-alcohol test when he was arrested. It is unclear whether Woods took a Breathalyzer or field sobriety test during his arrest. When arrested for DUI, you may be asked to submit to:

  • Field sobriety tests
  • Breath test
  • Blood test
  • Urine test

Although you may refuse these options, you can be arrested anyway. Successfully challenging a DUI can be affected by whether you decide to submit to these tests.
