5 Men Arrested for Solicitation of Prostitution in a County Park

Five men have been charged with solicitation of sex following a sting operation by male undercover detectives at a county park near Lakeland, Florida, according to the Orlando Sentinel. One of the suspects is 74 years old.

The sting was organized because residents in the area have been complaining of lewd activities in the park. Of the five men who were arrested, two of them had been arrested at the park previously for similar charges. In February, eight other individuals were arrested in the park for lewd activities.

In Florida, you do not have to actually exchange money for sex to be charged with solicitation. Merely having a conversation about a proposed exchange can leave you facing severe criminal consequences.

Being arrested and charged with prostitution or solicitation can be a humiliating situation. If you are convicted, you may face professional and social criticism. Careful investigation of the details of your arrest is critical to pursuing reduced or dropped charges in your case. Your arrest and charges hinge on whether police officers and prosecutors can prove a conversation took place in which you promised payment in exchange for sex. An experienced criminal defense attorney can determine if there is a lack of evidence in your case.

If you have been charged with prostitution or solicitation in Orange County, Orlando, Osceola or the surrounding Central Florida areas, please contact the Umansky Law Firm to schedule a consultation with our experienced criminal defense lawyers.
