Redmond O’Neal Charged with Heroin Possession

The son of the late Farrah Fawcett and actor Ryan O'Neal was arrested and charged with drug possession in Southern California on Tuesday.

According to law enforcement officers, Redmond O'Neal was pulled over around 8:30am for failing to stop at a red light in Santa Monica. Police searched his vehicle and found heroin. He was jailed without bail.

The 26-year-old is currently on probation for another drug case and has battled drug addiction for years. He was placed in a drug diversion program, which he completed last year. He was placed on probation after bringing drugs to a jail in Los Angeles County in 2009 when he went to visit a friend.

O'Neal was first treated for addiction to heroin in 2004, but relapsed four years later. He was arrested and convicted of drug possession and drunk driving and then given probation. That same year Redmond and his father were arrested for possession of methamphetamine, which was found in the actor's Malibu home. They were ordered to enter into treatment programs.

Fawcett died of cancer while Redmond was temporarily in jail, but he was granted a temporary release to go to her funeral.
