OutKast Member Big Boi Arrested in Miami on Drug Charges
Hip-hop artist and member of OutKast, Antwan "Big Boi" Patton, was arrested on Sunday for drug possession. According to law enforcement officers, Patton was getting off a cruise ship at the Port of Miami when a drug sniffing dog led officials to his stash. He had just returned from vacationing in Puerto Rico and Grand Turk Island.
Law enforcement allegedly found 5.7 grams of MDMA powder, three ecstasy pills, and nine Viagra pills, as well as other unnamed items. Patton was then arrested on three counts of narcotics possession and one count of drug paraphernalia possession. He was released late Sunday on a $16,000 bond.
Patton's defense attorney stated that Patton was traveling with a group of friends and the drugs were found in "the collective luggage." He said, "I am confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated."
One of the first things Patton did upon his release from the Pre-Trial Detention Center in Miami was write through Twitter, "Fresh out Baby!"
It's unknown what might happen to Patton if he is convicted on the drug offenses. Ordinary people might plead and get a reduced sentence, which might include a drug treatment program, fine, and probation. If this is not his first time being charged with drug offenses, he may face some jail time.
