The legendary Red-Headed Stranger himself, Willie Nelson, was arrested last week in Sierra Blanca, Texas for possession of six ounces of marijuana. The arrest came after a border patrol agent allegedly smelled marijuana coming from Nelson's tour bus at a checkpoint. Nelson and two others on the bus were arrested after the marijuana was found. He was released on a $2500 bond.

Nelson faces a felony count of drug possession if Texas prosecutors do not reduce the charges. In Texas, this means a minimum of 180 days in jail and a maximum of two years, plus a $10,000 fine.

Nelson has a history of arrests due to drugs, and according to at least one California attorney, jail time may be inevitable for the 77-year-old.

In 2006, Nelson was arrested with a pound and a half of marijuana and three ounces of hallucinogenic mushrooms on his tour bus. He was arrested in Waco, Texas in 1997 when a joint was found in his ashtray.

While Nelson may reportedly face jail time, it's hard to forget that perennial party girl Paris Hilton was given a slap on the wrist for cocaine possession in Las Vegas, Nevada. It's good to remember that no matter what state you are in, being convicted with a crime has consequences.
