New York Giant WR Facing DUI Charge
Receiver Braylon Edwards of the New York Jets was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence. He was pulled over in Manhattan early in the morning. Edwards' breath test showed he had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system and was arrested.
According to the media, Edwards was at a charity event earlier in the evening. He got into his SUV with four passengers, including other Jets players. The Jets use a program called Player Protect, which provides 24-hour security and drivers for members of the team. Former law enforcement officers are available with just a phone call, as are SUVs, vans, and limousines.
The DUI charge Edwards faces is a misdemeanor, and the driving while impaired charge is a violation. He is already on probation for a fight he was involved in last year in Cleveland. This could mean a larger problem than just the DUI.
However, Edwards is expected to play in this Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins.
