LA Lakers Player Hit with Domestic Violence Charge
According to Sacramento County, California authorities, a player for the LA Lakers has been charged with suspicion of domestic violence. Deputies allege that they responded to an incomplete 911 call from a home on Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, Lakers guard Matt Barnes and a woman who lived with him, were both at the house when authorities arrived. Both had visual injuries, but it was determined by the police that Barnes was the aggressor.
Barnes was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence and maliciously obstructing the use of a telephone line. He posted $50,000 bail and was released.
Barnes took to Twitter this morning to claim that he was the victim in the alleged domestic violence incident.
No matter how you slice it, domestic violence does not look good to the general public. Whether you’re making millions of dollars on an NBA team or are simply the guy (or girl) in the cubicle, you will be harshly judged if you are accused of domestic violence. If Barnes is telling the truth, and he is the victim, he will still have to answer for the situation. And that’s just part of the pain of being charged with this kind of crime. Imagine having to look your friends, neighbors, and family in the eye after you have been arrested, charged, booked, and then bailed out for domestic violence. How do you explain this to your children?
If you have been charged with domestic violence, one of the first things you need to do is contact an experienced criminal defense attorney. Rather than running to Twitter, FaceBook, or another social media to make claims, let your lawyer do the talking. Damage control begins when your case is accepted.
Those charged with domestic violence in Orange County or Orlando, Florida, or anywhere else in the state of Florida have the experienced domestic violence defense attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm to turn to. Please contact us if you have been charged with domestic violence for a free and confidential case consultation.
