Two Men Arrested for Stealing Scrap Metal

Two men were arrested after breaking into a business to steal scrap metal in Ormond Beach. They are currently being held in the Volusia County Branch Jail. The two men have been charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, and grand theft.

According to police, a witness allegedly watched as the two men loaded scrap metal from a shutdown business into their Pontiac Grand Am. The witness confronted the men who said they didn't know who the scrap metal belonged to before driving away.

When police found the two at an Ormond Beach hotel, they allegedly told police they were fishing on Saturday and saw a pile of abandoned scrap metal nearby. When they saw it the next day, they decided to take it. However, police claim they went to the abandoned business and saw that it had been broken into. They also found burglary tools in the Pontiac, which belongs to one of the two men arrested.

They are being held on $15,000 bail.
