Rapper Lil’ Wayne Pleads Guilty to Arizona Drug Charge
Rapper Lil' Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter, is already spending time in a New York prison for gun charges. However, that didn't stop him from pleading guilty to an Arizona drug charge. He appeared in Arizona court via video monitor on Monday.
The charges are from January 2008 when a bust on Carter's tour bus lead to police allegedly finding ecstasy in his backpack. The gun charges that lead to Wayne's New York incarceration stem from his 2007 arrest outside a night club. A .40 caliber pistol was then found on his tour bus.
Lil' Wayne was facing a three-year prison sentence if convicted. By pleading guilty, he could receive 36 months probation in the plea deal he received. The plea deal is a recommendation that needs to be confirmed when Carter appears before a judge at a later date.
