Motley Crue Singer Vince Neil Charged with DUI
Vince Neil, the singer of Motley Crue, was arrested in Las Vegas after failing a field sobriety test. He was pulled over in his Lamborghini near the Las Vegas Strip early Monday morning on suspicion of drunken driving. The 49-year-old was taken to Clark County Detention Center.
According to Las Vegas police, Neil was leaving the Las Vegas Hilton when he was arrested. Neil posted $2000 bail and was released. He will be back in court in late September.
This news is somewhat ironic in that Neil's arrest comes one week after declaring his sobriety, as well as announcing the release of a tell-all book. The book apparently describes Neil's long struggle with drugs and alcohol.
In 1984, when Neil was just 25, he crashed a sports car head-on into another vehicle in Redondo Beach. That crash killed Neil's passenger, Nicholas Dingley, then drummer for another California band, Hanoi Rocks. Neil pleaded guilty to manslaughter and drunken driving. He served 20 days and agreed to pay $2.5 million in restitution to the victims of the accident.
