Florida Gym Teacher Caught Stealing from Students
A Citra, Florida gym teacher vehemently denied stealing money from high school students’ lockers right up until the point he was shown the video of him doing what he had been doing for years, apparently--stealing cash from his students. The teens at the school, fed up with having money taken from their lockers, took action by putting a camera phone into an empty locker positioned in such a way that the teacher could be caught on video rifling through lockers looking for cash.
The physical education teacher, 49-year-old Steven Simmons, who taught at North Marion High School, has resigned, and the kid who caught him is considered a hero amongst his friends; Unfortunately, however, this "hero" could actually be in trouble for bringing a camera phone to school and placing it in the locker room, which, for obvious reasons, is against school rules. The charges Mr. Simmons facing are criminal, however, and the student just broke a school rule about having phones inside the building. No jail time is possible for the kid. Jail time is definitely possible for the teacher.
