In a perfect example of what can happen when you are charged with driving under the influence, the newly appointed basketball coach at Hofstra University has quit after only being on the job for one month after being arrested and charged with a DUI. Although he officially quit, the spokesman for Hofstra said, "The university accepted the resignation in the best interests of the university and of the men's basketball program." He was suspended indefinitely after the arrest.

The 49-year-old was a former coach at Iona and Providence. He signed a five year contract worth $3 million, and spent the last two seasons as a commentator on ESPN.

Nassau County, New York police say the coach was arrested Friday, April 30, when he was found asleep behind the wheel of his Lexus at a green light with his foot on the brake. He was taken into custody and given a sobriety test.

Losing a high-profile, multi-million dollar job is bad, but losing it because you made the mistake of drinking and driving may be worse.
