Son of Michael Douglas Facing Life for Dealing Meth

Cameron Douglas, the 30-year-old son of actor Michael Douglas, was arrested late last month for selling methamphetamine over a three year period. Arrested in Manhattan at the end of July for allegedly delivering over 200 grams of meth through the mail to an informant, police say Douglas has made tens of thousands of dollars by selling the drug. Police allege Douglas shipped the drugs from a hotel in New York to addresses in California. Payment was made in cash.

Douglas has a previous cocaine charge and is now facing ten years minimum for the sale of meth – and possibly life. His incarceration would certainly set an example that not all those who are rich and famous are able to keep out of prison. However, this also sets an example that maybe all those who are dealing narcotics deserve the harshest punishment possible.

Getting charged with possession or sale of drugs is a serious offense in this country. Many people are convinced they’ll get a slap on the wrist because they read about, or know someone, who was given a fine and sent home. However, this is not always the case. If you do not have an experienced drug offense attorney, you may find yourself spending years behind bars when you could have received probation and a treatment plan.

Though Cameron Douglas may be spending a good portion of his life in prison, you do not have to suffer the same fate. If you have been charged with possession or sale of drugs in Orange County or Orlando, Florida or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the experienced criminal defense attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm.
