Lakeland Couple Charged with Steroid Possession
A former bodybuilder was arrested during a raid on his Lakeland home last week for allegedly possessing anabolic steroids with intent to sell. Arrested along with the 35-year-old man was his wife.
The man has claimed to be a major steroid dealer whose clients included members of the Washington Nationals baseball team and the Washington Capitals hockey team. However, authorities have said there is no evidence to support the man’s claim. Officials from both sports teams have also issued denials that any of their players were clients of the alleged steroid dealer.
Because the man was charged with a federal charge, the state charges were dropped.
It’s obviously important for athletes to perform at their peak, and it is true that many of them turn to steroids in an attempt to gain a little more power. However, in Florida, just as in the rest of the country, performance-enhancing drugs are illegal, as is their distribution. The public is acutely aware of some of the most well-known athletes in the country being caught up in steroid use, especially record-breaking baseball stars.
If you have been charged with possession or distribution of steroids in Orange County or Orlando, Florida, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, you will need an attorney who can help you through the legal issues you will inevitably face. Please contact the experienced drug offense lawyers at the Umansky Law Firm for an initial consultation.
