Violent Crimes Charge Diverted and Dropped

A young bank teller with no criminal history was accused of battering his live-in girlfriend and causing over $1000 in damages to her computer, furniture and clothes. The allegations against the young man were extremely serious due to the nature of their violence. After he was charged, he hired the Umansky Law Firm to defend him.

We were ultimately able to show the prosecutor that the young woman was violent, suicidal and mentally unstable. With this information, the State allowed our client into a diversionary program which he completed successfully. After completion, the charges filed against him were dismissed.

Diversionary programs are designed primarily for those who have been charged with minor offenses. The hope is that this type justice, which moves more quickly than the traditional court system, is an answer to those who really don’t belong in prison or should not have some kind of record. For adults, there are first time offender programs, drug treatment programs, and restitution programs, and there are many other programs for youth offenders.

The Umansky Law Firm has the experience to aggressively defend you against any charges and will try to get you into a diversionary program if the case warrants it. If this happens, like it did to our recent client, the charges may be dropped.

If you have been charged with a crime, please contact the experienced criminal defense attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm for an initial case consultation. We serve the Orange County and Orlando, Florida area, as well as the state of Florida.
