Firefighter Allegedly Steals Severed Leg from Accident
An investigation is under way to determine why a Port St. Lucie firefighter allegedly took an amputated leg from an accident last week.
According to the accident victim's attorney, the man's lower left leg had to be severed at the scene in order to remove him from the wreckage. It is the attorney's "understanding" that the firefight took the leg with the purpose of training her cadaver dogs.
An anonymous caller from the fire department alerted news sources that the accident victim was airlifted to the hospital, but firefighters wrapped the leg in a towel and took it back to the station. The leg was supposed to be brought to the hospital where it could hopefully have been reattached. The caller said the firefighter allegedly had a family member bring the leg home where her cadaver dogs were.
